Apprenticeship Application Procedures

Every new apprentice must provide the following to register with the RVCTC.
Prior job experience may qualify you for advanced placement.

1. Complete RVCTC application
2. Proof of age (copy of driver's license or birth certificate)
3. Copy of high school diploma, GED, or copy of transcript for last grade completed
4. Two character references
5. One work reference
6. If BAT Registration is desired, employment by a participating contractor is required

NOTE:
Apprentices should include the preceding items with in their application. All apprentices will be interview at orientation or trade advisory committee meeting.

How to apply

To receive and application form Call (865) 688-2311 or fax (865) 687-5414 and request an "Apprenticeship Application Form" from the RVCTC coordinator. A form can be mailed to your home, employer's office, or any designated place at your direction. A form may also be printed if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Applications will be accepted for all Apprentices May - August at:
Associated General Contractors of Tennessee - Knoxville Branch, 535 Chickamauga Ave, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917

or

Associate Builders and Contractors - East Tennessee Chapter, 5612 Kingston Pike, Suite 7, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919.

General Requirements:

• Minimum age 18
• High School graduate/ GED equivalent
• Complete the SATB general aptitude evaluation
• Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade

Student Cost:

• Books to be used throughout the program
• Knox County registration fee
• RVCTC Tuition Fee

Testing:

Call the Department of Employment Security 594-6409 and make an appointment to take the SATB general aptitude evaluation. The Department of Employment Security will mail your evaluation results directly to the Resource Valley Construction Training Council Inc. This evaluation can also be taken in other counties besides Knox.

• Mail a copy of your high school Transcript with your application to RVCTC./
• After RVCTC receives your application we will notify you for and interview before being allowed into the program.
• The RVCTC is a EEO participant and will abide by all the EEO rules and regulations.
• All construction workers are encouraged to apply and attend.

Program is certified by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and approved by the Veterans Administration under the GI Bill.
